Organic Super-Electron-Donors


Tetrakis derivates electron-rich alkenes and on additional driving force associated with aromatization, families of extremely powerful neutral! organic super electron donors.

In the ground state, they carry out metal-free reductions of a range of functional groups. Iodoarenes are reduced either to aryl radicals or, with stronger donors, to aryl anions.

Recently, families of some highly reactive organic reducing agents,

these extreme highly electron donors have been  developed, based on very simple molecular design.

This Perspective charts their emergence, their preparation in synthesis, and their applications to doping organic semiconductors.

Also interesting is the intense fluorescence of the Tetrakis alkenes Complexes is under UV-light.
